Machinery
Smaller equipment and machinery that needs a little extra height to stay legal.
Equipment
An upper and a lower deck for freight that is tall, but not tall or heavy enough to need a lowboy.
What It Is
A step deck, sometimes called a drop deck, has a short upper deck over the tractor and a longer lower deck behind it. That drop gives tall freight more legal height than a standard flatbed, while the open deck still loads easily from the side, with a forklift or by crane.
For many machines and crated loads, a step deck is the practical middle ground: more clearance than a flatbed, without the permits and planning a lowboy move can require.
Smaller equipment and machinery that needs a little extra height to stay legal.
Tall palletized and crated freight, secured and protected for the trip.
Building and industrial materials headed to job sites, yards and plants.
How We Handle It
We confirm dimensions and weight, check whether the load stays legal or needs an oversize permit, and plan securement around how the freight is built. If height or width calls for a permit, our in-house permit service handles it. And if a lowboy or RGN would serve the load better, we will say so up front.
Step deck loads get the same attention as our heaviest moves: proper tie-downs, edge protection where it is needed, and securement checks along the route.
Coverage
Our step deck service runs out of Dallas, Texas, across the Southeast and on nationwide lanes. See the areas we serve, or call (205) 396-7534 to talk through your load. Dispatch answers 24/7.
Send the dimensions and weight, and we’ll confirm whether a step deck fits and quote the move.
